Blending elements of Folk and Soul, the track is the first collaborative track written by Andrea and Those Folk and features Canadian banjo troubadour Ryland Moranz.
Written back in July 2024, whilst on tour all together, the song references checking the news in the morning, which is exactly what inspired the song itself when Andrea opened up Instagram and saw some crazy political posts from overseas. The song goes on to explores themes of feeling manipulated by unseen forces and a subtle reference to changing weather patterns in these uncertain times as well.
The track was recorded by Lawrence Menard in Pomona at Mantle Records and features Clare Quinn on Vocals and Percussion, Lawrence Menard on Bass, Vocals and Organ, Andrea Kirwin on Vocals, Acoustic Guitar and Organ and Canadian artists Ryland Moranz on Banjo and Backing Vocals and Kylie Harmon on Drums.
‘Those Folk’ are a husband & wife musical duo comprised of songwriters and multi-instrumentalists, Lawrence Menard and Clare Quinn. A partnership forged in the fires of folk music, their songwriting explores love, hope, belonging, and the human condition. Breathtaking vocal harmonies are featured alongside guitars, mandolin, banjo and accordion.
“Those Folk are one of the best live acts to come out of QLD in the past decade. Their performances are world class and I believe they have what it takes to become a household name in years to come! Clare and Lawrence have it, that magic you can’t teach. It’s their stories, their stunning songs and perfect harmonies and of course their love. Go see Those Folk and I promise that you won’t regret it!” - Andrea Kirwin
